Alecia is a 2 time Emmy Nominated General Assignment Reporter and Fill-In Anchor. She covers extensive breaking news stories including major events that went national such as the Camp Fire (deadliest fire in California history with at least 44 killed), the Deadly wildfires in the North Bay, the U.C. Berkeley Riots, the Deadly Ghost Ship Warehouse Fire in Oakland, the Sudden passing of SF Mayor Ed Lee and the contentious election for his replacement, the Oakland Police Department sex scandal, the Brutal rape and murder of 8 yr old Maddy Middleton, the Ebola outbreak and the Bart strike in July 2013 that crippled the Bay Area. She also solo anchored the Asiana flight 214 plane crash at San Francisco International Airport for 2 straight hours on KRON 4.
Before settling in the Bay Area Alecia reported for News 12 Brooklyn, covering epic stories such as the Miracle on the Hudson, President Barack Obama’s 2008 Inauguration from Washington D.C., the 2010 NYC earthquake, all the tornadoes that hit Brooklyn in 2010, and hurricane Irene in 2011.
Alecia’s passion is giving a voice to people that may not otherwise be able to tell their stories. When not covering the news, you can find her volunteering with a number of charitable organizations, traveling, and trying different types of food.
Alecia is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, Habitat for Humanity San Francisco & Global Village, Big Brother Big Sister Bay Area, Get On The Bus - connecting California children with their incarcerated parents for Mother's and Father's Day, the National Association of Black Journalists and MIKA Girls Basketball - helping pave the way for student-athletes to become successful on and off the court. Alecia is also an Alternate Trustee and a Governor for the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences San Francisco / Northern California.
